BBAM and Modern preparing to lend in Brazil in August
New York City, New York Jul 27, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Modern Logistics Reaches Lease Agreement with BBAM
Modern Logistics based in Sao Paulo Brazil is pleased to announce that it is finalizing an agreement with Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management (BBAM) to lease a 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF), the first of two freighters to be added to Modern's fleet over the next few months. BBAM is one of the world's largest freighter aircraft lessors with US$14 billion in aviation assets under management and has facilities across the world. BBAM has financed $40+ billion in commercial jet aircraft for more than 200 airlines worldwide.
Modern Logistics expects the aircraft Convert Freight (BCF) to be delivered to Campinas in August in Brazil Viracopos International Airport in August.-Painting in a facility in China leasing with BBAM.
Stated Modern Logistics' CFO and CTO Mario Fernandes da Costa, "We are very pleased to have negotiated the agreement with BBAM as the company transitions to a new generation of Boeing 737-800s from its current freighter fleet of Classic 737-300s and 737-400s." Mr. Fernandes noted that the Next Generation of 737s is more cost-efficient in terms of ton-miles transported and has a cargo capacity approximately 10 percent larger than the previous generation of 737s.
Tentatively, Modern Logistics anticipates delivery of a second 737-800 BCF in the first quarter of 2024. Given this schedule, Modern Logistics extended its lease with Automatic LLC on one of its existing aircraft while an extension on a second freighter is under consideration. This action will ensure against any disruption to Modern's proprietary, one-stop-shop services that incorporate all modes of transportation and distribution. Modern Logistics will receive technical support from PCA Airworthiness, the São Paulo-based aviation engineering and consulting firm, in connection with the new 737 acquisitions. Modern Logistics CEO Cristiano Koga stated, "I am very pleased with the collaboration and expertise of BBAM and PCA and anxiously look forward to the delivery of the new aircraft. The additional capacity and efficiency of the new aircraft will assure the future success of the company by better responding to the needs and requirements of our clients."
Currently, Modern Logistics has three Classics 737s in its fleet. The introduction of the new 737-800s is part of a fleet renewal to enhance operational efficiency. As the replacement of the existing fleet will take place gradually, the company will operate both classic 737s and NGs over the near term.
The new generation aircraft will provide greater productivity in the air segments due to the larger availability of parts and maintenance services in addition to the increased efficiency of the new aircraft.
The incorporation of the new 737-800s firmly places Modern Logistics in a greater competitive position within the industry as the bulk of air logistic firms continue to use older, less efficient 737's which have been converted to freighters. Modern Logistics provides logistic services throughout Brazil and is authorized by ANAC, Brazil's aviation regulator, to serve international destinations.
Modern Logistics, founded in 2012, is a pioneer in the development of a one-stop-shop model using air freighters to provide logistics services that are materially hastening supply chains across Brazil. In addition to its fleet of Boeing 737s, the company has more than 6,000 vehicles from approved partners for ground operations. Through its seven distribution centers and cargo terminals, goods are efficiently directed to clients via the company's air and road network from its Viracopos operations base in Campinas, SP. modern.com.br
