“The Media x Women team is humbled and overjoyed to be honored by the Signal Judging Academy and fans of ‘How She Made It,’ within a category of finalist shows produced by Duolingo, John Hopkins University, Purdue University, and SUNY,” noted Linda Saint Marc, Media x Women founder and executive producer of the podcast. A professor of professional practice at The New School - Media Management Graduate Program, Saint Marc emphasized, “How She Made It is made possible by a talented collective with a shared thought leadership perspective and conviction to be the meaningful change we seek in the media industry through equity, diversity, and inclusion. These esteemed recognitions reinforce our belief that the stories and insights we publish are both important and impactful in the world.”
With over 1,700 entries received in its first year, Signal Awards is already one of the largest honors and the most prominent award dedicated to Podcasts. Submissions exceeded the organizer’s expectations, with domestic entries coming in from twenty-five states and global entries from four continents. All entries were reviewed by the Signal Academy judges of some of the podcast industry’s leading professionals based on the following criteria: concept, content and writing, creativity and innovation, quality of craft, engagement and listenership, and overall experience. Nearly 150,000 public votes designated winners among finalists chosen by the Signal Academy for the Listener’s Choice Award.
A diverse range of organizations entered great podcasts to the inaugural Signal Awards, including global media heavyweights like Amazon, HBO Max, National Geographic, Apple, Netflix, NBC, SiriusXM, Discovery, iHeart, and Paramount to pioneering companies Pineapple Street, Vox Media Podcast Network, Tenderfoot TV, Lemonada, Crooked Media, WaitWhat, MIT Technology and Cadence 13.
The glass ceiling-shattering stories featured on the ‘How She Made It’ podcast are especially noteworthy during March as it is Women’s History Month in America and International Women's Day (IWD) on March 8th. This month is an ideal moment to celebrate women's achievements in the workplace and showcase employer initiatives and support. According to IWD organizers, “As the biggest employee engagement day of the year, IWD sees organizations amplify and reinforce their commitment to helping forge an inclusive world.” Media x Women encourages you to subscribe to ‘How She Made It’ on your favorite podcast platform and share details about the award-winning series with promising media, tech, or STEM talent to whom you are connected.
