Philippines Construction Industry Report 2024: Output was Estimated to Expand by 10.7% in Real Terms in 2024 Before Recording an AAGR of 7.1% During 2025-2028 - ResearchAndMarkets.com

The "The Philippines Construction Market Size, Trends, and Forecasts by Sector - Commercial, Industrial, Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, Institutional and Residential Market Analysis to 2028 (Q4 2024)" report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering.

The Philippine construction industry was estimated to expand by 10.7% in real terms in 2024, supported by investment in infrastructure and energy development.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the construction industry's value-add rose by 9% year on year (YoY) in Q3 2024, following YoY growths of 16.1% in Q2 and 7% in Q1 2024. According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the average value of the Philippine banking system's loans outstanding for construction by 13.4% YoY during the first eight months of 2024, preceded by an annual growth of 8.9% in 2023.

In October 2024, the government reported that five projects with a combined value of PHP28 billion ($505.8 million) are expected to be awarded by the end of 2024 or early 2025, which includes upgradation of New Bohol International Airport in Panglao, and the construction of a 300-bed cancer hospital in Manila among others.

However, high construction material prices, rising debt, falling Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), coupled with a cancellation of major projects can pose a downside risk to the construction industry over the short term. According to the Board of Investments (BOI), the total FDI received in the country fell by 1.8% YoY in the first three quarters of 2024, falling from PHP494.8 billion ($8.9 billion) in Q1-Q3 2023 to PHP485.9 billion ($8.8 billion) in Q1-Q3 2024.

The analyst expects the construction industry in the Philippines to register an annual average growth rate of 7.1% between 2025 and 2028, supported by investment in housing, infrastructure, and energy projects. The government plans to increase the share of renewable energy in its total power mix from 24% in 2020 to 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040. The Board of Investments of the Philippines reported that through the 'green lane certificate', under which projects receive faster permits approval; it has endorsed 128 energy projects worth PHP3.9 trillion ($70.6 billion) as of September 2024
