Question: Can you describe the most rewarding aspect of your everyday experience at the store?
Diane: For me, it is seeing the joy and happiness on our customers' faces when they come in and see the Preston and Ferntree Gully Christmas store all decorated. It's incredibly rewarding to know that we are able to bring joy to their lives.
Robert: Additionally, when customers come back and show us photos of what they've created with our products, it's truly inspiring and motivating to see the creative ways in which our products are being used.
Question: How do you help customers narrow down their options and find the right decor that appeals to them?
Diane: Our team is skilled at understanding customers' preferences and guiding them towards the perfect decor. We start by asking about their budget and what they already have at home. For instance, if they're looking for a tree, we inquire about the theme they have in mind or if they want to decorate their mantlepiece. Based on their answers, we have designated areas in our store that we can take them to or offer services such as wreath decoration in specific colours. If customers prefer a more personalised touch, we even have a visual merchandiser who can visit their home and assist with decorating.
Robert: We strive to cater to all budgets and ensure that creativity and options are not limited by budget constraints.
Can you share a specific incident or experience with a customer that stands out to you as emotionally rewarding in your current role?
Diane: A young boy with autism has been coming to our store for the past 14 years. He is obsessed with lights and every year he decorates his tree with about 2000-3000 lights. His mother used to bring him to our store every night to look at the lights in our windows to help him eat his dinner. It's incredibly rewarding to see the joy on his face every year when he comes into our store as soon as we open. This is just one example of how our store brings joy to our customers' lives, and it's truly heart-warming to know that our hard work goes towards creating memorable experiences for our customers.
Robert: Sure! Another example is a couple who have been loyal customers of ours for many years. They decorate their whole house for Christmas and have a charity bin in front of their house to collect donations. We have helped them with donations, free samples, and other support to achieve their goal of creating a festive atmosphere and raising funds for charity. Seeing their end-result and the joy it brings to their community is incredibly fulfilling for us as a team. These experiences highlight the emotional rewards that come with working in a seasonal store and the impact we can have on our customers' lives beyond just selling products.
