Upholding The Legacy Of The March On Washington

A Statement from the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals on the 60th Anniversary of the March On Washington

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Aug. 28, 2023 - PRLog -- 60 years ago, a staggering 250,000 Americans made their way to the March on Washington for jobs and freedom. During the historic March, many gathered to hear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. deliver his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech that continues to resonate today.

As we reflect upon this momentous time in history, it is imperative that we address the ongoing challenges that continue to hinder our nation's progress –- specifically, the lack of economic and professional advancement of C-Suite Black Executives, the disproportionate wage gaps between Black women and their peers, and the crucial need for equal and inclusive treatment of Black and Brown people within the Hospitality industry. As members of the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals (NCBMP), an organization dedicated to promoting equity and inclusion in the hospitality industry, we recognize the urgency of leading and sustaining the work that the March on Washington organizers brought to the global stage.

Our core principles align with the ethos of the March on Washington and we stand committed to championing the need for renewed efforts and the unwavering determination to uphold the principles of justice and fairness. The 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington serves as a stark reminder that the work of progress and equality is far from complete. As we remember the impassioned speeches and rallying cries of civil rights leaders, we must recommit ourselves to defending the principles of justice and equality that Dr. King and others fought so valiantly.

Will you stand with us?

Signed,
Jason E. Dunn Sr.
