The newly published Road safety infographic by AutoMole

The newly published infographic by AutoMole, displays the full breadth of fatal car crash statics across the US, with Mississippi and Arkansas with the highest figures.

AutoMole published infographics on crash data early in the month, mainly showing states with the highest fatal car crashes and those with the highest number of car crashes. Unsurprisingly deep south states have many more car crashes than most others a trend that has continued for a long time. In Mississippi, traffic accidents are responsible for hundreds of fatalities annually. Unfortunately, many of the accidents occurring in the state are preventable.

While Mississippi has a significant car crash issue, with the highest per capita traffic accident mortality rates, it isn’t alone. Arkansas is a close second with 21.2 per capita compared to Mississippi's 25.4.

According to experts, many accidents are preventable. The most common causes of car crashes are drunk driving, speeding, disregard for traffic laws, and aggressive driving. Some accidents are also caused by improper vehicle maintenance. The graphic serves as a reminder that despite cars becoming safer in the past few decades, with airbags and engineered crumple zones, car crashes are still killing people.

“Interestingly, It is estimated that 1 in every 200 people will die in a car accident in their lifetime in the USA. This a surprising statistic we think people should know about. The infographic shows where most car crashes occur, and we’ve tried to talk about the most common causes in the article. Our hope is that people will see and understand this infographic, helping to potentially save their own lives and those of others on the roads.” Said Sam, the editor and writer that worked on the article for AutoMole.

He added, “It is important to avoid unnecessary risks when driving. Drunk driving or driving under the influence is still killing people because, at the end of the day, it is up to us to understand the risks before we get behind the wheel.”
