Most Costly Mistake Students Make While Preparing For College

Phoenix,United States - August 16, 2022 /PressCable/

The Warrior Class college preparedness ministry has recently linked up with Turning Point USA and Students 4 Life. Sadly, College has become, in large measure, the place where nascent faith has gone to die. Studies like Barna Research differ but all seem to agree that a minimum of 70% of students arriving on campus with Christian leanings, overwhelmed and challenged by peer pressure and the secular influence of their professors, lose their faith.

The most costly mistake students make while preparing for college is not only preparing to weather the storm but, more especially, to challenge the prevailing mood of the academic world. In this way, they are more likely to thrive and grow in their faith while influencing others to stand strong as they seek Godly wisdom and direction in the critically important time of exploration and learning that the college years represent.

The Warrior Class is a powerful college preparedness ministry that supplies training, encouragement, and resources to help you to maintain and grow your faith at college. Check out the new additions to The Warrior Class website and all the free resources that will help students be prepared.

In a recent statement from Kevin Sorbo, star of the movie God’s not Dead , Kevin warns “At the very time you should have the freedom to strive, explore and grow your faith, peer pressure, dangerous lifestyle choices and secular humanism will all be at work to challenge your faith.” .

As a critical mass is formed, God can produce a way for His good, acceptable, and perfect will to be known – even in so dramatically biased a setting. His work of evangelism will be ramped up through you and many of your fellow students will be called to a saving knowledge of His grace.

Students: Every motivation should be for you to bless and pray for all those He places in your life. In so doing you pave the way for the true love and joy of the Lord to roll in and change hearts and minds.

The First 72 hours on Campus are Critical

College tours should be structured to include visits with all available campus ministry leaders including Turning Point USA, Campus Crusade, InterVarsity, FCA, and the various Chaplaincies. Many times, one of the most important decisions of a lifetime can be made based on partial or even incorrect information.

College applicants and their parents need to base decisions on full information. Here are a few of the many questions that need to be answered:

How strong/resilient is my child’s faith?

Is a Christian or secular college the best match for my child? Might my child’s faith/leadership profile be strong enough to attend a secular college?

Which school matches up best with my child’s gifts and callings?

Which campuses provide the best extracurricular support for faith-filled students?

Which faculties are most supportive of Christian students?

Which “Christian” colleges have compromised their standards of faith?

Which schools are antagonistic to Christian students?

In addition, many logistical concerns need to be addressed such as:

What code of conduct and/or ethics is required of the faculty?

What is the appeals process that is offered if a professor unfairly grades a Christian point of view?

What are the legal protections and constraints around the issue of free speech and universal investigation of creationism in state-sponsored colleges?

Which campuses provide “in loco parentis” structures/parietals?

Which campus ministries are best suited to support my child’s level of faith?

Is my child better served living at home/closer to home than at a distant campus?

Administrators’ Goal: Infringing Upon Students’ Rights

First Amendment Rights are often disregarded by administrators and professors to tamp down Conservative Points of view. Peer Groups can determine Success or Failure. Many Students unwittingly fall in with the wrong group during their first 72 hours on campus and the dye is cast leading to poor lifestyle choices. It is best to prearrange ministry connections.

Student Testimonial:

“Attending the Warrior Class before leaving for school ended up being an important part of my transition to college. That was such a crucial time when I needed to choose to prioritize faith without the leadership of peers or parents when arriving at college. Those first few weeks set a course for finding new friends and how to seek out a Christian community. It was helpful to have a baseline on which to build a new understanding of the Bible, of theology, and to let that inform the relationship with the Lord venturing.”
