NEWARK, N.J. - Jan. 14, 2022 - PRLog -- With January being National Mentorship Month, publicity guru Angelo Ellerbee, founder and president of Double XXposure , pays tribute to his mentor, departed two-time Grammy winner James Mtume.

Mtume was known for the #1 hit "Juicy Fruit" (1983) as well as productions for Roberta Flack/Donny Hathaway ("The Closer I Get To You", "Back Together Again"), Stephanie Mills ("Whatcha Gonna Do With My Lovin", "Never Knew Love Like This Before") and Phyllis Hyman ("You Know How To Love Me"), Prior to the chart success, Mtume recorded and/or performed with jazz greats Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Rollins and Freddie Hubbard. Besides his music career, Mtume co-hosted the New York City-based talk series, Open Line, for eighteen years on WRKS-FM and later WBLS-FM.
Mtume passed away on Sunday, January 9th, 2022 at the age of 76.
