Medicinal Cannabis, CBD, Enters Through the Big Door to Latin America

DALLAS - August 13, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

Medicinal products derived from the hemp plant, popularly known as CBD, and produced in the United States are entering the Latin American market through the first strategic alliance of two giant companies, Medterra and Megabals, announced today simultaneously from Dallas, Texas, and Montevideo, Uruguay.

"Medical cannabis is considered the 'green gold' of our times, many have speculated about this growing industry, but in reality, not many companies have been able to develop products of such high quality and presentation as Medterra has," explains Andres Giraldo, CEO and founder of Medterra Latam, a subsidiary of Medterra.

"The hemp plant is a great unknown for many, with a more than promising future. There is a tendency to confuse it with marijuana, both belong to the same species, Cannabis sativa, but there are proven differences in morphology, chemistry and purposes of use. We are sure that our products will be a phenomenal relief for thousands of people. On its own, CBD is not intoxicating, but it moderates the euphoric effect of THC. Our products have 0% THC," said Jay Hartenbach, CEO of Medterra.

"We will start in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil, as the populations of these countries show a greater interest in high-quality CBD products. Megalabs will use its advanced distribution network throughout Latin America to continue Medterra's global expansion," said Gianclaudio Broggi, CEO of Megalabs, a leading pharmaceutical company positioning products in markets in many countries. "With this agreement, Megalabs is strengthening its broad portfolio and entering a new therapeutic field with CBD, which is highly effective as a treatment for pain, anxiety, depression, epilepsy, among other ailments."

The alliance announced today is achieved thanks to the initiative of entrepreneurs of Colombian origin founders of Medterra Latam. Along with Andres Giraldo, are Jorge Giraldo, VP, and Melissa Franco, Project Director for Latin America and India.
