“The Hub,” Alaska Airlines’ new 128,000-square-foot corporate office by general contractor Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, recently opened in SeaTac. The project includes a Class A corporate office building and an 800-space parking garage complex sitting on Alaska Airline’s seven-acre site. Acquired in 2018, the site is across the street from the corporate headquarters, adjacent to its flight training center. The Hub features open office design concepts with several team huddle and meeting rooms, various-sized and multi-purpose conference spaces and a two-story atrium space. The building also includes a wood-clad grand staircase with stadium seating and a decorative steel and wood glulam intercommunicating staircase on levels two through six.

“We’re elated with the newest addition to our corporate campus – it’s a real showstopper,” said Shane Jones, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of airport real estate and development. “The building is filled with stunning spaces that provide welcoming, open work and collaboration areas for our employees and visitors. Howard S. Wright was a great partner, and delivered exactly what we were looking for as we map out the future of Alaska.”

As general contractor, Howard S. Wright’s scope of work included self-performing concrete foundations, vertical shear walls and columns, placing and finishing elevated horizontal decks, and installing doors, frames and hardware.

“It was an honor to deliver ‘The Hub’ for Alaska Airlines safely and on-time,” said Dan Peyovich, Howard S. Wright president. “The partnership across the entire team was sensational and I would like to personally thank Alaska Airlines, NBBJ, Seneca Group, Kinzer Partners, our Howard S. Wright project team, and all our trade partners and workers.”

The Howard S. Wright team focused on early pre-construction engagement, phased construction, and leveraging the latest technologies to successfully deliver The Hub. At its peak the construction project employed approximately 200 workers. The completed project took two years to deliver and is targeting LEED® Silver certification.
