ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE offers both, long term and short-term exchanges for 15 to 19-year-olds. Each experience is customized to the participant’s needs and complies with the established standards in safety. The short-term exchanges do not involve school time but provide foreign travel opportunities immediately after the student completes his/her school. The student can visit the best sights, sounds, and smells of the host country without a bother. A typical short-term exchange lasts for a few weeks and are structured as homestays, tours, family-to-family, and international youth camps.

On the Gap Year Abroad Program, the spokesperson further stated, “Our Gap Year Abroad Program is a typical long term program designed to help add meaning to the gap year. The program is aimed at creating multi-linguistic and multicultural personalities that excel at whatever they do in life. Current high school students are the prime candidates for the program. However, graduates from the US or Canadian high school can also be accommodated. Herein, the student is enrolled in the local school where he/she completes a full academic year. His/her lodging needs are well catered through highly trained host families. These families are carefully chosen and trained to take good care of the student and involve him/her in community activities.”

The selection criteria of the program are simple. The student just needs to be aged between 15 and 19 years, a leader in his/her community, and have a liking for exploration, learning, and assimilation. While lodging, food, and school expenses are covered in the program fee, the student only pays for round-trip airfare, travel insurance, and travel documents, such as passports and visas, in addition to tour expenses.
