Dr. Michael Savin, M.D of Portland, Oregon is honored by the International Association of Who's Who as one of America's Most Influential Physicians.

PORTLAND, OR, November 15, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Amassing over 40 years' experience throughout his career, Dr. Michael Savin has worked in the field of medicine across a number of academic and private practice settings, gaining extensive expertise in hematology, oncology and a variety of cancers, but with a particular focus on breast cancer.

Dr. Savin first became interested in medicine due to childhood memories of the family doctor, and from being able to shadow him at weekends on his house calls. It was after finishing high school that Dr. Savin was presented the opportunity to join cardiologist Dr. Arthur Selzer as part of a group of trainees, where he was able to observe him work and teach Cardiology Fellows. It was these experiences that set him on his course in medicine.

After graduating from Harvard College, Dr. Savin began his medical education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he graduated 1969. It was after this accomplishment that Dr. Savin had the opportunity to complete his internship and residency at the Duke University Medical Center in 1973, with a two-year beak at the Laboratory of Biochemistry at the NIH Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. He then followed on from this to complete his Fellowship in Hematology in 1975 at the University of Washington.

As well as his impressive educational background, Dr. Savin also holds certifications from The American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology (1977), Hematology (1976), Internal Medicine (1974) and Medical Oncology (1977). Dr. Savin is licensed to practice in the states of California, Texas, Oregon and New York.

Dr. Savin attributes his success to his skill at getting to know his patients and their families well, commenting: "There is a very special and unique bond that develops between physician and patient when dealing with serious illnesses. I can't imagine another profession that would let me know so well and care for people of such diverse backgrounds."

Dr. Savin is currently on the full-time faculty at the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) Knight Cancer Institute in Portland, where he is dedicated to teaching young oncologists in training, is a clinical researcher, as well as contributing to the design of clinical trials and the management of a large clinical research program. His years as a clinical investigator led him to help develop a chemotherapy regimen for breast cancer, which is now one of the standard treatments to help prevent reoccurrence of the disease.

Dr. Savin is always aspiring to share his wealth of accumulated knowledge, serving at the OHSU School of Medicine as a full-time faculty member in the Division of Hematology and Oncology. He is widely known for his publishing accomplishments, contributing scientific and clinical research papers to medical and basic science journals, as well as presentations at national and international meetings.

In his time away from work, Dr. Savin enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Juliette Wait, a pulmonary physician, alongside their two sons, daughter and grandchildren. With a love for music stemming from studying the violin at a young age, Dr. Savin enjoys playing the guitar. He also likes watching live music and attending the opera when possible.
