The event took place in Las Vegas, Nevada from February 11-13, 2019.

The Tobacco Plus Expo is on its 15th year and is one of the most notable events in the world of Tobacco. The event features retailers, distributors, and wholesalers taking the event floor to network and show off their products. Various talks also take place during the Expo, one of which discussed how Innovation is affecting the Vape industry.

The talk, moderated by Brittani Cushman, revolved around how innovation is changing the game in the world of vape, how government intervention affects business operations, and why it's always nice to think outside the box.

When asked about how different the current US market is from the rest of the world due to government restrictions, Brendan McDermott explains how the current FDA rules are affecting US innovators by not allowing any notable changes to products: "Other than label changes, there cannot be any changes to the ingredients, the format, and even the raw ingredients providers. This is where we have thrived but at the same time [where] we struggle."

Brendan also shares his view that companies in the space that are honest, compliant, and looking forward to a great future should become partners with the FDA. He believes that most companies understand where the FDA is coming from and that there should be some conversation around the issues: "What is important to get across is [that] the companies that are doing this right, staying compliant, are not averse to the FDA…We understand that we will all be better off when we get through a comprehensive guideline. The problem is the grey areas."
