The Open World Leadership Center, an agency of the U.S. Congress, will send a delegation of Rumsfeld Fellows from Central Asia and the Caucasus to Austin, Texas from April 20 – 24. The delegation consists of six professionals from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia. While in Austin, the Open World program participants will be hosted by GlobalAustin.
In Austin, delegates will collaborate on best practices for Accountable Governance. Delegates will meet members of the Texas Legislature and their staff, and local leaders in Central Texas. Additional activities will include visiting start-ups, businesses, and business incubators/accelerators. The delegates will stay in the homes of local residents who serve as hospitality hosts.
GlobalAustin connects people with a global vision, for mutual learning and understanding, through hosting current and emerging leaders and developing citizen diplomats. Established in 1960, GlobalAustin offers professional programs, provides cultural activities, and arranges home hospitality for foreign leaders participating in the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program as well as other exchanges. GlobalAustin hosts approximately 500 visitors each year in Austin.
