Expensive Electricity Cost for An LED Screen?

How Much Electricity Cost Do You Need to Pay for Your LED Billboard & LED Screen & Digital billboard?

BELLINGHAM, WA, March 30, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Do you want to know how much electricity of your LED display cost? Is the electricity cost of your LED billboard display screen costs much? BIBI LED did a test in our factory and would love to share it with you in the following article.

Single color LED display
The electricity cost of single color LED screen

The power consumption for outdoor P10 single color 320x160mm LED module is 27W per square meter and around 18 modules for one square meter, which means the maximum power consumption for each square meter will be 500W in full brightness. the text display area usually is just 35-50%, then it makes the average power consumption of P10 single color LED modules is just 175-250W.

For example, let's calculate it like the P10 single color LED billboard display screen, Max power consumption of this LED display is 500W/m2 and works on 10 hours per day, $0.15 per kilowatt, then the cost of electricity for this single color led display maximum will be $7.5 every day. Now you can figure out the electricity cost by yourself according to how many square meters of your single color LED billboard display screen.

Max power consumption: 500W/m2
Working hours per day: 10 hours
Electricity per kilowatt: $0.15
Screen size: 10 SQM

Here is the way to calculate: 0.5 KW x 10 hours x $0.15/KW x 10 SQM = $7.5 a day.

Dual color led display
The electricity cost of outdoor dual color LED displays

The maximum power consumption is 650W for outdoor dual color LED billboard display screen according to constant current technology and 3000cd brightness ( full brightness on ). the normal text area is from 35% to 50%, then makes the average power consumption from 228 to 325W, light on 10 hours a day. the electricity cost is $0.15 per KW. The screen size is 10SQM.

Max power consumption: 650W/m2
Working hours per day: 10 hours
Electricity per kilowatt: $0.15
Screen size: 10 SQM

Here is the way to calculate: 0.65 KW x 10 hours x $0.15/KW x 10 SQM = $9.75 a day.

Now you can calculate the electricity price of your LED billboard display screen according to the above formula.

The electricity cost of outdoor full color LED billboard display screen

Nowadays, there are two kinds of outdoor full color LED billboard, Standard type, and energy saving type. today, we are going to share our test for this two kind of types.

The power consumption of outdoor full color LED billboard display screen depends on the brightness level. And the normal brightness is from 5000nits to 8000nits. so the maximum power consumption is 900W/m2 ( full white balance brightness on ). And it mainly displays the image or videos, then the average power consumption is higher than the single color LED screen or dual color LED display, it is around 300W as usual. The cost is as below If it is working 10 hours a day, the electricity cost is $0.15/KW, and led screen size is 20 SQM.

Max power consumption: 900W/m2
Working hours per day: 10 hours
Electricity per kilowatt: $0.15
Screen size: 60 SQM

Here is the way to calculate: 0.9 KW x 10 hours x $0.15/KW x 60 SQM = $81 a day.

And the max power consumption of our energy saving outdoor full color LED billboard display screen is only 230W. also working in 10 hours a day, and the led billboard size is 60 SQM, So the electricity cost is as below.

Max power consumption: 230W/m2
Working hours per day: 10 hours
Electricity per kilowatt: $0.15
Screen size: 60 SQM

Here is the way to calculate: 0.23 KW x 10 hours x $0.15/KW x 60 SQM = $20 a day.

It means in a month, you could save $1,830 for electricity cost, and in the year, you could save $21,960 for electricity cost if you choose to work with our energy saving outdoor full-color digital billboard

The electricity cost of Indoor full color LED billboard display screen

At last, BiBi LED is going to calculate the electricity cost for the indoor full color LED screen. The brightness of the indoor full color LED screen is 800-1000nits as usual. Then the maximum power consumption is about 500W, and the average power consumption is about 250W. So let's calculate it by 10 hours working a day, 20 SQM, $0.15 per kilowatt. Then we got the cost as below.

Max power consumption: 500W/m2
Working hours per day: 10 hours
Electricity per kilowatt: $0.15
Screen size: 20 SQM

Here is the way to calculate: 0.5 KW x 10 hours x $0.15/KW x 20 SQM = $15 a day.

So, let us make a test for you in following three LED screens

The first LED Screen
Max power consumption: 1200W/m2
Working hours per day: 6 hours
Electricity per kilowatt: $0.15
Screen size: 80 SQM

The second LED Screen
Max power consumption: 700W/m2
Working hours per day: 20 hours
Electricity per kilowatt: $0.2
Screen size: 120 SQM

The third LED Screen
Max power consumption: 500W/m2
Working hours per day: 6 hours
Electricity per kilowatt: $0.18
Screen size: 260 SQM

Please leave your answers in the below comments, and leave your questions if you may have any questions. thanks for your time.

So, you might be lost on how to calculate the total power consumption of LED display?

If so, please following my step. For example as below
40SQM P10 SMD outdoor LED screen, LED cabinet size 960x960mm, and there are 3pcs 300W Meanwell power supply LRS-350-5 in one cabinet. So, the total max power consumption is 900W for one cabinet. And there is a 43pcs 960x960mm cabinet for 40SQM. And then the total max power consumption of this LED display is 38700W, it means 38.7KW in total.

Here is the formula: 43pcs cabinet x 3pcs 300W = 38700W

So, let's calculate how much would be costly if run 10 hours a day and the electricity cost is $0.15 per KW

Total power consumption: 38.7KW
Working hours per day: 10 hours
Electricity per kilowatt: $0.15

Here is the cost: 38.7 KW x 10 hours x $0.15/KW = $58 a day.

When you need to calculate how many is the power consumption of your LED display, you only need to ask two questions from your LED display manufacturer:
Q1) The specification of the power supply?
Q2) How many pcs power supply in your LED display?
