BGAPSA and CDDN Announces Their March Event Promoting Leadership Among Black Students

Five speakers will offer inspiration and insights for attendees to go on to drive business innovations and transform their communities

Philadelphia, PA - Black Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (BGAPSA) at UPenn in collaboration with Career Development Diversity Network are proud to announce their March event. Many young black people in Universities in the Philadelphia area are very talented, but they need mentorship. This event is designed to expose these young people to both different opportunities available to them and the hidden pretexts in navigating workplaces. The event will be taking place at Wharton School, Walnut Street, and at The Pyramid Club, Market Street, both in Philadelphia, PA. Five black and successful young individuals have been billed to speak at the event.

"BGAPSA represents students in various higher institutions. Our desire is to see that the workplace is filled with diverse teams of people worldwide. We’re organizing this event to provide inspiration for young black people and minorities who are interested in starting up new businesses and positively affecting their communities. Our speakers are young black men and women who have proven themselves in various fields and are committed to ensuring they impact other people positively," said Joshua Bush, a representative of Black Graduate and Professional Student Assembly.

Black Graduate and Professional Student Assembly working with Career Development Diversity Network (CDDN) are going to make this event a very impactful one, especially for would-be black business leaders and entrepreneurs. With this event, they hope to inspire young black students by making them understand the importance of taking leadership roles and making a change. They will provide in-depth analysis and understanding of what it takes for anyone to achieve success in their business life. Speakers will also Inspire attendees to achieve their peak potential through innovative programming, relevant professional development, and meaningful learning experiences.

Keynote speakers for this event include Haley Pilgrim, Ph.D., an award-winning researcher and speaker. She is the president of Graduate And Professional Students’ Assembly (GAPSA) at UPenn and is known for her work in teaching Social Statistics, Sociology of the Family and Race, and Science and Justice. Lawrence Cole, the Head of Northwest US Lead Gen Sales in Google's Mid-Market ads division, will also be speaking.

There will also be three speakers for the Humanitarians in Residence Roundtable talk at the event. Shadrack Frimpong, CEO of Cocoa360 and a Forbes 30 under 30, as well as Antoinette Zoumanigui and Selamawit Bekele, co-founders of Africa Leads.
