Employer demand for cyber security professionals is accelerating according to data from CyberSeek™, the leading source of actionable data on supply and demand in the nation’s cybersecurity job market. Transmosis, and CompTIA, are seeking 20 applicants to offer full scholarships, each worth $10,000 for cyber security training.

February 14, 2019

Baltimore, Maryland, February 6, 2019 – Transmosis, a nationally recognized leader in cyber security workforce development, and CompTIA, a leading voice and advocate for the $5 trillion global information technology ecosystem, today announced they are seeking 20 applicants to offer full scholarships, each worth $10,000 for Cyber Security Training. Funding is being provided through EARN Maryland, a highly successful competitive workforce development grant program that helps businesses cultivate the skilled workforce needed to compete while preparing Marylanders for meaningful careers. Through EARN Maryland, the
Maryland Cyber Skills Alliance (“MCSA”) will provide qualified Maryland residents with full scholarships that fast-track them into high paying cyber security careers. The intensive cyber security training and certification program will launch March 4, 2019.

The Maryland Cyber Skills Alliance is seeking to address Maryland’s shortage of skilled cyber security workers by providing training that leads to industry recognized certifications which map directly to IT job roles. Led by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), and Transmosis, Inc., the MCSA will provide essential training for both incumbent workers and hard-to-reach unemployed and underemployed populations in Maryland.

Employer demand for cyber security professionals across Maryland is accelerating according to data from CyberSeek, the leading source of actionable data on supply and demand in the nation’s cybersecurity job market. Maryland employers in the private and public sectors posted an estimated 15,128 job openings for cybersecurity workers between September 2017 and August 2018. That’s up from the estimated 14,353 cyber job postings for the comparable period one year ago.

“Maryland is second in the nation for emerging technologies and innovation,” said Acting Labor Secretary James E. Rzepkowski. “Despite our already high share of STEM professionals, Maryland is continually working to ensure a pipeline of talent that can meet our existing and future hiring needs within the technology sectors. Industry-led partnerships like that with Transmosis and CompTIA will help us achieve that by putting Maryland residents on a pathway to high-paying, successful careers in cybersecurity.”

Supporting grant partners include Point3 Security, Cybrary, TrainACE, the Federal Business Council, and the Cybersecurity Association of Maryland.
