How to Navigate the Road to College in a Post-Pandemic Society

CHICAGO - Aug. 8, 2023 - PRLog -- MGM College Services LLC Announces the 4th Annual College Transition Conference for Academic, Campus, & Life Success.

MGM College Services LLC is excited to announce the 4th Annual College Transition Conference for Academic, Campus, & Life Success, a virtual event designed to support high school seniors, 2023 high school graduates, college freshmen, and their parents, family members, and other supportive adults. The conference will take place on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at 11 am CST, with invaluable resources, information, and financial guidance to navigate the college journey and beyond.

"College today is not college of the past," says Marilyn Gilbert-Mitchell, founder of MGM College Services LLC. "With changing admission practices, post-pandemic shifts, and economic, social, and societal challenges, it is more important than ever to support students and families in pursuing postsecondary education that matches their professional, personal, and career goals."

MGM College Services LLC has been providing college planning services for students, parents, and families for decades. With a family-based approach, Gilbert-Mitchell has helped students receive over 1,220+ college admission offers, $17.5 million in confirmed scholarships along with self-advocacy skills, leadership development, confidence, accountability, and success.

According to a recent national survey conducted by Discover® Student Loans, a majority of parents with college-bound children are concerned about having enough funds to pay for their child's education. This year, the number of financially unprepared parents has increased, "with 70% expressing worries about having enough funds compared to 66% last year and 63% in 2021...Families should aim to have conversations early and often about college costs and job and salary prospects after graduation."  There are also other considerations such as independence, distance from home, safety, and educational progress.

The College Transition Conference will feature six speakers, experts in various areas and living across the United States and London, England, who represent organizations such as Scholarship Momma, Chicago Fire Department, Wear Your Money Crown, and University of Texas-Austin. Topics covered will address concerns raised in the Discover survey, Princeton Review's Hope & Worries Report, and others, including FAFSA and financial aid, mental health and wellness, home and dorm safety, financial health and wealth, academic success, and the transition from high school to college.

Attendees can expect a wealth of information, interactive chats, games, prizes, and valuable resources throughout the conference. General admission is free with VIP and upgrade options available. Register today at www.CollegeTransitionConf2023.eventbrite.com.
