ICF blocks create sustainable, sturdy buildings because of their lightweight forms. ICF is a system of strong insulation blocks made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) that are separated by plastic webbing. These blocks become concrete molds when used in ICF construction. Reinforced concrete is poured into the blocks to create a concrete wall during construction. These blocks replace traditional wood planks or plywood frames that are often used as building supplies.

Once the concrete is poured, finishes such as drywall or siding are attached to the outside of the ICF by fastener strips embedded to the outside of the blocks. ICF blocks fit together like lego bricks, creating a tight building envelope and strong structural integrity.

ICF blocks offer a sustainable solution because they are safe, energy efficient, and more convenient than traditional wood or polywood frames. Homes built with ICF exterior walls typically require 32% less energy to cool and 44% less energy to heat.

Additionally, ICF homes require less steps in construction, resulting in faster builds. The EPS insulation provides thermal comfort, energy savings, and sound mitigation. Other benefits of ICF construction include wind resistance, fire resistance, earthquake protection, moisture protection, sound insulation, and heat insulation. Building a passive house is also possible with ICF.

These building materials are more durable and energy-efficient because ICF blocks are essentially blocks of concrete separated by two continuous panels of ESP foam. This restricts the flow of heat and, unlike foam insulation, does not allow for thermal bridging (weak areas that allow for more heat to pass through).

Blocked ICF offers five different types of ICF blocks for sale, along with an HV clip that secures Fox Block® jobs together. Straight blocks make up for 80-85% of the ICF wall assembly on most residential and commercial builds. These blocks have six full-length injection, molded plastic ties made from Polypropylene (PP) regrind resin. These ties ensure the two pieces of EPS are secure.

Blocked ICF also offers Corner Blocks, 45 Degree Angle Blocks, and T-Blocks that are similar in build to Straight Blocks, but are ready for the twists and turns of a building or a home. Fox Buck are the blocks used for windows or doors. These blocks fully integrate to create continuous insulation with doors and windows and offer a dual barrier against drafts and moisture.
