ERTC Express, a CPA specializing in coronavirus-related tax credits, recently updated its process for checking eligibility and calculating maximum refunds for hotels and motels.

ERTC stands for Employee Retention Tax Credit and is a grant for business owners that paid wages to W-2 employees after March 12, 2020. The refundable credit is not a loan and does not need to be paid back, but is meant to help businesses recover from the financial impact of shutdowns and restrictions that especially affected the hospitality industry.
Due to the complexity of the claim process and the fact that it’s a relatively new incentive, many businesses are not aware of the credit. ERTC Express reports that 75% of clients for whom they’ve successfully secured a refund were not aware that they qualified, leading to many missing the deadline to claim $5,000 per employee for 2020 tax periods.
However, ERTC Express can still help businesses secure up to $21,000 for 2021 tax periods until the 15th of April 2025.
