Aaron’s House Offers Support for Caregivers of Individuals with Mental Illness

By: Get News

TAMPA, FL, USA - The Aaron Keith Robinson Foundation, Inc, doing business as Aaron's House, is pleased to announce its services for caregivers of people with mental illness. The organization was inspired by Pamela Robinson's personal journey as a mother of a son with bipolar disorder, Aaron. He passed away during a psychotic episode in 2014 at the age of 30.

Aaron's House provides a unique service to caregivers of people with mental illness. The organization offers support groups, education, respite, and compassion to caregivers. While there are many mental health groups around, none cater directly to the caregiver only. Aaron's House aims to fill this gap and support those who selflessly care for their loved ones.

"Our plans are to have certified peer support specialists go into the homes of caregivers and assist the person with the illness to become more independent and gain more self-confidence by actively doing productive things in the home or community," said Pamela Robinson, one of the key members of Aaron's House. "The peer support specialist will spend time with the person, possibly engaging in outside activities, freeing the caregiver up to run errands or do some of the things he/she enjoys while the specialist engages with the person with the illness."

In addition to their in-person support services, Aaron's House has embraced technology to reach caregivers worldwide. Recognizing the challenges faced by caregivers in various cities and states, the organization has made it easy for caregivers to receive help without physically being present by utilizing platforms like Zoom. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, caregivers throughout different states have been able to speak with mental health therapists and get the support they need from other caregivers while in the comfort of their own homes. Aaron's House support groups are held bi-weekly, providing a safe and confidential space for caregivers to speak and share without fear of judgment.

Aaron's House is also in the process of planning a dedicated building where both caregivers and individuals struggling with mental illness can access resources and receive treatment with the assistance of mental health counselors or therapists. This facility will further enhance the organization's ability to provide comprehensive support and assistance to those in need.

The mission of Aaron's House is to reach caregivers worldwide and provide them with the support and resources they require. By catering exclusively to caregivers of people with mental illness, Aaron's House distinguishes itself from its competitors, offering focused and personalized services tailored to the unique challenges faced by caregivers.
