6 Tips to Grow from Solopreneurship to a Multi-Level Business

By: Get News

Women often embark on solopreneurship to take charge of their schedules, earning potential, and clients. But the solopreneur’s journey is hampered by endless responsibilities that keep you from your calling. Transitioning from a one-woman show to a thriving business takes strategy, fine-tuning, and investment.

In 2020, Revel Coach, an executive coaching company, recognized the trend of women leaving their practices and careers to respond to family needs and alleviate personal stress. It was at this moment that founder, Marcy Stoudt, knew she needed to think creatively about how she can serve the women caught in the Great Resignation. The new vision to serve these “time-starved” working moms who are equally family and career driven compelled her to build a company that takes an innovative approach to executive coaching.

After hiring a team of coaches, fine-tuning processes, and investing in technology, Revel Coach accelerated its vision and mission by launching the program Nest by Revel. This program has catapulted Revel Coach from a small platform to a multi-level company serving 50 women since its launch in 2021. By establishing a scalable platform, the Revel Coach team is able to serve more women achieving more results.

From career to health to mindfulness, these women are thriving. “When I began my journey with Nest by Revel,” says Leesa Askew, “I thought I’d have to give up my career for the welfare of my family. But with access to a variety of coaches, I’ve taken control of my calendar and balanced my home life and career without giving up on either!”

To help other female entrepreneurs expand their businesses, Stoudt shares these 6 tips to grow your business from a solopreneurship to a multi-level company with lasting results:

(1) Go all in with the vision.

A clear vision reminds women leaders of what they are striving for while inspiring them to stay true to their purpose. Some solopreneurs mistakenly believe that writing a vision statement is a one-and-done event. When business leaders focus on it daily, they create a conviction and enthusiasm that makes anything possible.

(2) Invest in mentorship.

Mentors should be trustworthy partners who help business leaders explore solutions to challenges while building the confidence to stay motivated. British entrepreneur and billionaire Richard Branson once said, “mentoring is the missing link between a promising business person and a successful business person.” Solopreneurers should follow Branson’s lead and invest in mentorship.

(3) Expand service offerings based on the customer’s needs.

When building the Nest, Stoudt leveraged her personal experience in Corporate America as a Working Mom and a Stay-at-Home Mom to anticipate what support her members may need. The Nest’s roadmap became clear the more she understood her clients’ challenges. Consistently aligning (and re-aligning) your service offerings to the customer’s needs creates a strategy for company growth while focusing on results.

(4) Know your strengths, abilities, and development opportunities.

As a busy solopreneur, it can be challenging to find time to recognize opportunities for personal growth. Corporations use personality assessment tests to increase productivity, teamwork, and communication. These proven tools lead to a happier and more profitable business by aligning a team’s goals with their strengths. The Nest recommends solopreneurs use Cloverleaf for automated coaching to reveal insights about how you can leverage your strengths to manage your weaknesses.

(5) Hire people with the skills the company needs.

Successful solopreneurs recognize that they don’t have all the abilities to run their businesses single handedly. One person can’t be the lead coach, the salesperson, the accountant, and the operations manager. Investing in your business includes hiring trustworthy people to meet the company’s priorities. For Revel Coach, Stoudt realized her clients’ needs were outside her specialty, so she hired a team of specialized coaches from personal wellness to home-life balance to career. She also hired a team of people to help with back office support like marketing, member experience, quickbooks, virtual assistant, and sales.

(6) Take risks and learn from failures.

The willingness to experiment with new ideas is key to business growth. Leaders will never know something won’t work until they try. Whether they succeed, fail, or land somewhere in the middle, it’s important to take the time to reflect and learn from the experience. Leaders who embrace a growth mindset view failure as an opportunity to learn rather than the end. Remember the acronym FAIL stands for First Attempt in Learning.
