Brelyon, a leading innovator in immersive display technologies, has been selected as a winner of the prestigious xTechSearch 8 competition. This U.S. Army-hosted competition is renowned for identifying and fostering disruptive technologies with dual use capabilities that can be integrated into the Army’s Science and Technology ecosystem. Brelyon’s "Ultra Reality Mini Dual-Layer for Enhanced Situational Awareness via Amplified Indirect Vision" emerged as a standout solution to address a situational awareness capability gap due to limitations of legacy displays.
Brelyon's Ultra Reality Mini Dual-Layer technology replicates and enhances the operator’s view of the exterior environment through an augmented virtual window, offering access to five times as much data with ten times less size, weight, and power. By modulating the depth of the image, it also enables situational wellness, optimizing warfighters’ ocular health.
Alok Mehta, co-founder and COO of Brelyon, expressed his excitement about this significant achievement: "Being named a winner of the xTechSearch 8 competition is a tremendous honor and a testament to Brelyon’s cutting-edge innovation. Our Ultra Reality Mini Dual-Layer display provides scalable situational awareness for operators, and this recognition underscores the potential of our technology to empower warfighters with superior visualization capabilities."
xTechSearch 8 is the U.S. Army’s only open-topic prize competition, aimed at harnessing new and disruptive technologies from small businesses. Participants in the competition gain access to invaluable training and advising, enabling them to align their technological solutions with the needs of real users and buyers within the Army. The Army awards cash prizes to winners slike Brelyon, who are also invited to submit a proposal for a $250,000 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract.
The U.S. Army xTech Program, led by the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology (ASA(ALT)), launched its first ever xTechSearch competition in 2018 to redefine the future of our Soldiers, and how the Army can identify, award and accelerate transformative technology solutions.
To date, the program has launched more than 25 competitions, awarded over $18M in cash prizes, and over $89M in follow-on contracts and agreements to form long-standing partnerships with the Army.
Since its inception, the program has been the driving force to incorporate innovative technology solutions from small and non-traditional businesses and entities, to grow the Army and Department of Defense ecosystems to support Soldiers, fill mission gaps and solve critical challenges.
Brelyon’s success in xTechSearch 8 is a pivotal step towards further integration into the Army's technology framework, showcasing the company’s commitment to enhancing military capabilities through cutting-edge immersive display solutions.
As a winner of the xTechSearch 8 competition, Brelyon has been invited to showcase their innovations at the US Army xTech and Army SBIR Innovator’s Corner during the 2024 AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, D.C., from October 14 to 16, 2024.
