The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) Announces Winners of the 2024 Road Safety Achievement Awards

The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 Road Safety Achievement Awards. At the recent annual Strength IN Numbers Fleet Safety Benchmark Conference, NETS honored three NETS member companies for their outstanding achievements in road safety to recognize exceptional commitment to improving workplace road safety and reducing traffic crashes.

The International Road Safety award was presented to Amazon.

Amazon is one of the largest transportation networks in the world, and has to safely process and track more than 160,000 trailers. Amazon transitioned from paper-based safety checklists to a digital app that has improved safety by streamlining proactive safety checks and analyzing photos to ensure proper loading and securing. By leveraging AI computer vision technology, Amazon has made measurable strides in enhancing workplace safety and reducing the risk of accidents.

The Overall Road Safety award was presented to Sara Wojcik of Sunbelt Rentals for the Driver Risk Profile Program.

Sara has made considerable contributions to improving safety within Sunbelt Rentals by successfully aggregating and centralizing data to create comprehensive driver risk profiles which provide valuable insights into individual driver behavior and potential risks. She also initiated a collaborative "Transportation Safety Summit" to foster best practices among industry leaders to improve transportation safety standards. These programs are enhancing driver safety and reducing crashes across the entire company.

The new Women in Fleet Award was presented to Pam Chandler of Syngenta for the Syngenta North America Fleet Modernization.

Pam has been the primary champion of incorporating emerging safety technologies into the Syngenta North American fleet, and is also leading their pilot/assessment of hands-free driving.

Over the 5 years of introducing these technologies, Syngenta has seen an improvement of 50% in their crash rate and has scored in the top quarter of the NETS benchmark report for crash metrics.

“Improving fleet safety and reducing crashes is a collaborative effort, it takes all of us working together to ensure everyone on the road comes home safely every day,” said Susan Hipp, NETS’ Executive Director. “NETS Board of Directors is honored to be able to recognize the outstanding efforts of our members in their commitment toward this goal.”
