Boingo’s award-winning network solutions support the U.S. Department of Defense, providing instant internet connectivity at more than 80 Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy and Homeland Security Training Center locations worldwide. Boingo networks connect troops living in on-base housing, and support military education, connecting classrooms and training facilities. Under Gray’s leadership, Boingo recently launched an advanced Wi-Fi network at Sheppard Air Force Base training facilities, classrooms and dormitories to provide immersive learning experiences for both technical and flying training. Boingo also deployed a first of its kind private 5G network at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for the innovative 5G and converged networks Boingo deploys and manages for the U.S. military,” said Gray. “At Boingo, we’re dedicated to providing troops with fast connectivity wherever they need it—in their living quarters and where they train, from barracks to classrooms to command centers. Due to the mobility of our troops, wireless networks must transcend geographical limitations. By harnessing Boingo’s extensive global footprint, we can seamlessly provide connectivity wherever the military requires it, connecting bases across the nation and around the world.”

Boingo’s portfolio of wireless solutions meet the unique needs of each military branch and their mission. Boingo’s military products include wireless and fiber network services for troops living in the barracks and on-base family housing; connectivity for military education and facilities on base including gyms, classrooms and offices; macro towers and small cells for seamless cellular service; and private cellular solutions for secure 5G and IoT deployments on base.

“This new category for Women in Wireless is very close to my heart, it is so important that we all champion women in technology. The winners in this category were from diverse areas across the industry, all working in different roles, but all were driving innovation in their areas and inspiring others. I would like to congratulate Rebecca Gray on earning this year’s award,” said Sue Monahan, Small Cell Forum CEO.

Serving in the U.S. military, Colonel Rebecca Gray is currently the Vice Wing Commander, 111th Attack Wing at Biddle Air National Guard Base and serves on the State Diversity Council for the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Boingo is a proud three-time recipient of the Gold HIRE Vets Medallion Award, the only federal-level veterans’ employment award that recognizes a company’s commitment to veteran hiring, retention, and professional development.

For the SCF Industry Awards, Boingo was also named a finalist in the Excellence in Commercial Deployment by a Private Network Operator category for the design, install and management of a private LTE network at San Diego Padres Petco Park. Boingo deployed a dedicated private cellular network connecting staff iPads and point of sale devices to seamlessly handle mobile food, beverage and merchandise transactions.
