After two years of questions and distractions, the students of Insight School of Michigan (ISMI), an online public school serving 9-12 grade students throughout the state since 2013, will soon move forward to begin the rest of their lives.

Insight School of Michigan will celebrate its graduates in person with a commencement ceremony on June 18th, 2022 at 12:00 PM (ET). The virtual ceremony will take place on June 17th at 5:00 PM. RSVP for the virtual ceremony here.

“We are excited to offer both a live and virtual ceremony for our graduates this year. Each ceremony will honor the class of 2022 graduates with their own flare,” said ISMI Head of School Teresa Boardman.“It is our hope that offering both options allows for all graduates and their extended families to celebrate this accomplishment.”

Collectively, the Class of 2022 – which includes more than 200 graduates – have been accepted to trade schools, colleges and universities across the country as well as several branches of the military. Many students are also headed straight into the workforce or continue at positions that they have held throughout high school.

Leila Small is Insight School of Michigan’s 2022 valedictorian and plans to attend Cedar Crest College in Pennsylvania to get her bachelor's degree in biotechnology after graduation. Chelsea Stalsberg is the class salutatorian and will attend Eastern Michigan University. The ceremony’s keynote speaker for the live ceremony will be State Representative Angela Witwer.

Insight School of Michigan’s graduates have crossed the finish line of graduation and are prepared for their next adventure in life.

Prior to the pandemic, students enrolled in virtual school for a number of reasons—some were looking to escape bullying, some may have fallen academically off track, and others were looking for an alternative to the traditional classroom setting.

ISMI students access a robust online curriculum in the core subjects and a host of electives and attend live virtual classes taught by state-certified teachers. Insight School of Michigan improved in Math, ELA, & Social Studies proficiency during the pandemic where the state declined.
