Item 8.01 Other Events.
On February 9, 2005, the Board of Directors of Aetna Inc. declared a two-for-one stock split of the Company’s common stock to be effected in the form of a 100% common stock dividend. All shareholders of record on February 25, 2005 will receive one additional share of common stock for each share held on that date. The additional share of common stock will be distributed to shareholders of record in the form of a stock dividend on March 11, 2005. A copy of the press release is filed herewith as Exhibit 99.1 and hereby incorporated in this Item 8.01 by reference.
