On October 5, 2007 The Board of Directors of the John Hancock Financial Trends
Fund, Inc. (the "Fund") announced that Diamond Hill Capital Management, Inc.
will assume responsibilities as adviser and administrator to the Fund effective
on or about December 1, 2007. A copy of the joint press release dated
October 5, 2007 issued by the Fund and John Hancock Advisers, LLC is filed
herewith as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by reference.
